Town Projects

The Town of Mooresville has projects either in the study, planning, and design phases, or actively under construction in each of the program areas listed below. Select the links to the program areas to learn more about the status of the projects.

 Selma Burke Center
The Selma Burke Center is undergoing renovation to the existing facilities and adding a new multipurpose space as well as new amenities to serve the recreational needs of Mooresville citizens. The projects design and construction administration has been awarded to Wirth and Associates along with Lutman Architecture. The construction contract for the renovations and new facilities has been awarded to Miles-McClellan Construction. Some of the major points of the project are:
  • Status: Under Construction
  • Project includes a new multi-purpose building, open space, playground, picnic shelter, walking paths, additional parking, new gym floor and upfits to the existing building.
  • Construction began in October 2018 and is scheduled for completion in November 2019
  • Total project cost is $4,760,600
  • $500,000 state grant received to assist with project cost
  • New 9000 square foot multi-purpose building.

Liberty Park

Liberty Park is set for a multi-phased renovation beginning in 2019. The design of the park and its new amenities has been awarded to Stewart design. The construction contract for the park has been awarded to MBI Builders. The project budget is $2,518,825. The project includes:

  • Status: Project will begin on March 11, 2019
  • Construction duration: 360 days
The major aspects of the renovation are:

  • New band shell and performance area
  • New green space and walking path
  • New entrance to the park from Church Street
  • Veterans promenade and art installation
  • Contract was awarded on February 18, 2019
  • Liberty Park Rendering

 Mill Village Sidewalk & Utilities (2014 GO Bond)
  •  Construction in phases 2017 through 2020.
  • New sidewalk ( one side of the street) and curb & gutter to promote pedestrian walkability and also connectivity to the Downtown area.
  • Estimated Cost: $3,242,675
  • Replace Aging or undersized water and sewer lines.
  • Estimated Utility Fund Cost: $3,855,000
  • Total Bonded Cost: $2.504,804
  • Mill Village Sidewalk Concept Plan

 Mooresville School Network Sidewalk (2014 GO Bond)
  • New Sidewalk connecting Mooresville Middle School and Kistler Farm Road communities with Bellingham Park and Fieldstone/Magnolia Sidewalk Network.
  • Status: Project being redesigned to reduce construction costs
  • Construction expected to begin in Spring 2019
  • Estimated Cost: $3,700,000
  • Committed CMAQ Funding: $3,551,996
  • Total Bonded Cost: $534,754
  • Mooresville School Network Sidewalk Concept Plan  

 NC 115/Faith Road Intersection Improvements (2014 GO Bond)
  • Status: Utility relocates and authorization from NCDOT
  • Realignment of existing intersection for improved traffic flow along with new left turn lanes on all legs of the intersection.
  • Project is on February 4th Town Board Agenda for award
  • Construction is expected to start Spring 2019 and last 20 months
  • Estimated Cost: $1,858,110
  • Committed CMAQ Funding: $1,883,625
  • Developer's Portion: $253,000
  • Total Bonded Cost: $1,194,631
  • NC 115/Faith Road Concept Plan

 NC 150/NC 115 Intersection Improvements (2014 GO Bond)
  • Status: Construction operations under way.
  • New right turn lanes on the west bound and south bound legs of the intersection.
  • Construction is expected to be completed October 6, 2019.
  • Estimated Cost: $1,089,740.
  • Committed CMAQ Funding: $1,398,782.
  • Total Bonded Cost: $411,968
  • NC 150/NC 115 Concept Plan

 NC 150/NC 801 Intersection Improvements (2014 GO Bond)
  • Status: Project design is complete. Town Staff has requested Authorization to Construct
  • New left lanes on all legs in the intersection.
  • Construction is expected to begin Summer 2019 and last 18-24 months.
  • Estimated Cost: $2,752,277.
  • Committed Bonus Allocation and CMAQ Funding: $1,919,976.
  • Total Bonded Cost: $282,254.
  • NC 150/NC 801 Concept Plan

West McLelland Avenue Improvements
  • Status: Project has been awarded for construction. Utilities being relocated
  • Complete road reconstruction including sidewalk along West McLelland from Plaza Drive to Broad Street.
  • Construction to start February 2019.
  • Estimated Cost: $2,800,246.

West Wilson Avenue Improvements
  • Status:Right-of-way phase.
  • New curb and pedestrian path including pedestrian bridge along West Wilson Avenue from NC 21 to Broad Street.
  • Construction to start Spring 2020.
  • Estimated Cost: $2,650,000.

Rocky River Outfall
  •  Status: Under construction.
  • Gravity sewer from NC Highway 3 at Mooresville Intermediate School to Linwood Farms.
  • Expected completion date April 1, 2019.
  • Construction Cost: $3,394,410

Mt. Mourne Outfall
  • Status: Under construction.
  • Gravity sewer from Presbyterian Road pump station to Intersection of Faith and Highway 115.
  • Expected completion date August 12, 2019.
  • Construction Cost: $3,878,619

Langtree Force Main & Pump Stations
  • Status: Under construction.
  • Sewer force main and pump station to service southeast quadrant of Langtree Road & I-77.
  • Expected completion date June 2, 2019.
  • Estimated Cost: $2,270,480

 Dye Creek Greenway
  • Status: Right-of-Way Phase
  • New greenway from Bellingham Park to Johnson Dairy Road.
  • Estimated Cost: $2,321,756
